Configuring your ITPA e-mail address |

This page gives details of how to set up your ITPA e-mail address to send and retrieve e-mail. If you are a new user, skip the first couple of paragraphs and follow the instructions to set up Eudora Lite. |

Setting up Eudora Lite |

The screens below show how to set up Eudora Lite for your ITPA e-mail account. For the examples, we have assumed that you have been given the address sysadmin@itpa.org We show the Macintosh version of Eudora here; the Windows version looks slightly different, but all the menus are in the same place. |

Step 1 - Getting started |

Start Eudora; if you've not run it before, you may see the screen below appear automatically. If it does not, got to the Special menu and choose Settings. Click on the 'Getting started' icon. |

In the box marked POP account, enter your e-mail name (the part to the left of the @ symbol), followed by an @ and then mail.itpa.org. For instance, if you have been told that your address is sample@itpa.org then you should type sample@mail.itpa.org into the POP account box. Fill in your real name in the space provided - it will appear on messages that you send to other people. When you're done, click on the 'Personal Information' icon. Do not press OK yet! |

When the Personal information screen appears, it should have the first two boxes already filled, with the information that you entered in the previous screen. |

In the box marked Return address, enter your ITPA e-mail address, for example sample@itpa.org. This will be the address that your messages appear to be from. If you enter it incorrectly, people will not be able to send replies to your messages. When you've entered your e-mail address, click on the 'Hosts' icon. Do not press OK. |

Step 3 - Hosts |

The Hosts screen is where you tell Eudora what to do with messages that you are sending. The POP account box will be filled if you entered the correct information on either of the two previous screens. |

In the box marked SMTP, type relay.itpa.org. You do not need to change any of the other options. If you want to alter the way in which Eudora sends mail, or arrange for it to collect messages automatically, you can do so from the other settings icons. But for now you have completed the basic set up of your ITPA e-mail address. Click on the OK button to save the changes. To see if you have new mail waiting, use the Check Mail command which is on the File menu. |
